What’s Our Brand Unstoppable Influence® All About?
We are Natasha and Richard Hazlett. We own a company called Fast Forward Marketing. We’ve been in business serving clients globally since 2010. In 2017, we launched our brand, Unstoppable Influence®, and before we knew it, we had a personal development training company! I wrote a book called Unstoppable Influence: Be You. Be Fearless. Transform Lives. which sparked our transition focusing more on personal development because previously we were primarily business and marketing consultants.
Richard and I just love serving our Unstoppable Influencers and the community we’ve built over the years. At the end of 2020, we launched the Unstoppable Influence Academy®, and in 2021, we launched our Personal Empowerment Coach Certification program.
It’s only fitting that we join the world of podcasting now! This is something we’ve wanted to do for several years and finally, we’re here to bring you all the amazing tools, experts, and stories that we can.
Before you join us in this journey of designing your best life, let’s get to know each other a bit!
In the Beginning, Natasha Didn’t Even Believe in Personal Development!
Way back when, I was a professional attorney in a prestigious law firm. I didn’t think I had an entrepreneurial bone in my body… Ironically, I also didn’t quite believe in all the hype about personal development.
The thing is, I was always a go-getter. I was always out there doing things and taking action, and I didn’t need any motivation. I just did it.
So, I didn’t understand why someone would need any of that, until… Well, I experienced burnout and my motivation was gone. That’s when I discovered the power of personal development.
If you’re asking yourself how in the world I went from being a lawyer to where I am today, that’s the story of designing your best life!
I remember sitting in my office and thinking: “Is this really what I want to do with the rest of my days?” I knew in my heart of hearts that the answer was “no”. But, college and law school weren’t cheap and I did have a great (on paper) job.
This was all before I met Richard, who helped me step out of my comfort zone…and discover things about myself that I didn’t even know were there!
Richard — The Entrepreneur Who’s Constantly Evolving
When I met Richard, he was in advertising, but he always had something brewing on the side. He had a family full of entrepreneurs, so you could say the drive was just ingrained in him.
Ever since he got out of school, Richard tried his hand at many businesses. And like the majority of entrepreneurs, he experienced a lot of failure and mishaps. But, he never lost the willingness to try something new.
More importantly, he decided he would never quit and abandon his ambitions.
I’m so grateful he had that mindset…I wouldn’t be doing what I love today without his tenacity and “never quit” attitude!
Our First Ventures and the Early World of Internet Marketing
One evening, Richard came over and started telling me about a friend who had started a home-based travel business. His enthusiasm and ideas got me thinking of new possibilities. I kept asking about this business his friend had and the gears started turning.
I started learning about this thing called “Plan B” — a notion where you can live life on your own terms! I was intrigued by the idea of working from home and ditching the billable hours!
Eventually, we decided to jump right in and start our first business. It was called Blues City Travel and well… There were many ups and downs!
From there, we discovered the world of internet marketing. I became a blogger and Richard went into paid advertising.
Blogging was going slow and I didn’t have much success at first… 3 long months of nothing happening, and then one day the switch flipped! That’s how these stories go – you just have to be persistent. The sales started rolling in, we were making money, and we were both ready to quit our jobs soon. And then…
It’s Not a Fall Unless You Stay Down
We got an email and the company we’d been promoting had a change in policy. They were giving up on internet marketing (!!!) and I had to delete my entire blog. I wish I could say I musted up the “Tony Robbins” within and took the bump in stride and kept going, but I can’t.
I quit., I was done, I wasn’t motivated anymore. I felt like a failure. Luckily, Richard knew I’d be back so he held that space for me.
There was a big mindset lesson in there (tune in to find out!) and eventually, I stepped back into the game.
In 2010, we launched our first digital training product because we knew how to market on the internet, and we were good at it. That’s when I realized that I had a gift for teaching and speaking. We were now running this successful business with marketing, consulting, and coaching ingrained. Within a couple of years, we had both quit our jobs and were working full-time in our business.
It Wasn’t Exactly All Sunshine & Roses From Then On…
Lots of people think that when you reach a goal like quitting your job, that everything is “sunshine and roses” from then on. Sorry to burst your bubble, but it’s not true.
When I quit my job, suddenly there was all this time to fill, and so I had to learn how to manage my newfound “freedom”.
At the time we were going through some fertility struggles and that started to wreck me emotionally. We worked very hard in our business over those years and built a multiple six-figure companies, helping entrepreneurs to define, build and monetize their brand online.
While we were financially successful, I was struggling. Although we finally became parents, I was still wrestling with a lot of emotions…which resulted in a tremendous amount of weight gain. I was depressed and again, I found myself on the verge of quitting. I didn’t want to inspire anyone, I just wanted to hide under the covers and be invisible.
In March of 2016, I told Rich that I wanted to quit. He said he would support me no matter what my decision was… but luckily, we had invested money in an event for entrepreneurs, hosted by our friend and mentor, Russell Brunson. So on a wing and prayer, I went to the conference. On day three, I was blessed with a massive epiphany which leads to a decision to engage in radical self-discovery so I could get to a place where I could love myself.
I hired a nutrition coach, lost 55 pounds in 5 ½ months and that sparked an incredible process in my life. I call it the Unbecoming™ process. It’s based on a quote I read in 2014: “Maybe the journey isn’t about becoming anything…maybe it’s about UN-becoming all the things that were never really you, so you can be who you were meant to be in the first place.” As I began to peel back the layers, I started to become who I was always meant to be.
Divine Timing Is Perfect Timing
In 2017, we knew there was something new for us. We were open to receiving the inspiration — and that’s when the name Unstoppable Influence® was placed on my heart.
A few months later, I was inspired to write a book… it only took me 22 days! This book sparked a movement and expanded our community. We were truly designing our best life and it felt so freeing!
You will get to learn all about becoming an Unstoppable Influencer® in future episodes, but for now, I want to leave you with this…
Designing your best life is not a destination. It’s really a journey, and we’re ever-evolving. We’re constantly learning and growing and we would love to have you come along for the journey with us!
